Inexpensive and fun things to do with your Mum – This Mother’s Day

May 14th is just around the corner and every mum deserves to be absolutely spoilt on this day. We understand that not all of us are in the position to buy our mother’s a brand new car or all expenses paid holiday. But lets be honest its not about the size of the gift, it’s about making them feel loved and appreciated for being our amazing mothers. We have put together five simple yet meaningful ideas for a special day spent together this Mother’s Day.

Grab some popcorn and watch a movie or two…

Movies are a great way of relaxing and spending some quality time together. Plus with all the streaming options like Netflix and Stan, hitting play just couldn’t be easier. Watch her favourite movie (again) or offer a selection of movies that her favourite actor plays in or even surprise her with a movie she hasn’t seen before! Pop those corn kernels, dim the lighting and pull up those winter blankets. Your mum will absolutely love this simple night in.

Make a meal together…

Pick up a few ingredients from your local grocery store, head on over to your mum’s place and make a scrumptious meal together. Whether it’s a recipe passed down the family tree or made from scratch. Food always tastes better when someone else makes it for you. Pull out the “good plates” and set up a nice little dinner party for you and your mum. Don’t forget to wash those dishes, she’s cleaned up after you long enough.

Crack open the photo album…

Pull out the old family albums and take a trip down memory lane – while you’re at it why not crack open a bottle of her favourite drink. Let your mum go through the album and tell you stories you’ve heard a million times or ones she’s never mentioned before. You might just be surprised at how much she’s done in her lifetime. While you’re there why not snap a new photo of you guys all together and add it to the album.

Help her out with something she’s not all that good at…

We all have our strengths and weakness, and your mother is always your pillar of strength when you need it. Technology can be a steep mountain to climb if you’re not familiar with the latest updates. Why not help her out with setting her Facebook privacy settings or setting up a series link to her favourite T.V. show. She will be so grateful that you took the time to help her and hopefully make her life a little less stressful.

Play some good old fashioned board games…

Every family has their favourite game. Chances are if you enjoyed it as a child, you’ll enjoy it even more as a grown up. Games are a great way of making the whole family laugh and makes for great memories. Clear the dining room table, pour a hot cup of tea and let the games begin.

CAUTION: Monopoly is known to test relationships, we recommend staying clear from this one. However, it is a great way of understanding how to manage your money and properties all in one. But hey that’s what were here for!
